Module 5: Editing Segments in a Time Study

This document explains how to edit, update, omit, split, and delete segments within a time study timeline, as well as how to save or discard your changes.

Editing Segments in a Time Study

Step 1: Open Segment Editing

To begin editing, click Edit Segment in the top-right corner of the time study interface.

Step 2: Update Segment Details

You can now edit any segment in the timeline. Update the segment by changing its name, modifying the description, adjusting the type of work being done, or specifying whether it is value add, non-value add, or waste.

Step 3: Omit or Revert Unrelated Segments

If a step in the timeline is not related to the work being studied, you can selectively omit that segment so it is not counted, or revert it so it is included again in the time study.

Step 4: Adjust Segment Timestamps

If the timestamps on the clip are incorrect or need refinement, click and drag the segment handles on the timeline to adjust its start and end times.

Step 5: Add New Segments

If you need to split an existing step into two or more parts, add a new segment within the specific area of the timeline where the split is required.

Step 6: Delete Unnecessary Segments

Remove any segments you no longer need by clicking the trash icon for that segment.

Step 7: Save or Discard Your Changes

When you are finished editing, choose whether to discard your changes (if you do not want to save them) or save your edits to update the time study.
